Donor Committee
An independent Donor Committee analyses and regularly questions the work of the organisation. Made up of twelve co-opted members, the Donor Committee discusses and examines programmes, management, fundraising and communication. It is allocated resources by the organisation to evaluate programmes in France and abroad. Through its chairperson, it can make its voice heard at the General Assembly and within the Board.
Audits
Institutional Audits
The French government, via the Court of Audit, can at any time check that funds raised from the general public and from institutional donors are being properly used. Doctors of the World is subject to such regular inspections undertaken by the firm Deloitte. In-depth audits are also undertaken by French, European and international public donor agencies.
Internal Audit
Doctors of the World also pursues a rigorous policy of internal controls by conducting regular internal audits. Having assessed the risks associated with the countries and projects concerned, the internal auditors carry out field visits to ensure that the use made of funds complies with project objectives.
Don en confiance
Doctors of the World is approved by the Comité de la charte du don en confiance (Give with Confidence Charter Committee) and strives to respect its principles. This self-regulatory body (co-founded by Doctors of the World) brings together more than 80 French organisations and foundations which are committed to respecting the principles relating to statutory functioning and managing a non-profit enterprise, rigorous management, good standards of communication and fundraising and financial transparency.
