CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS OF HUMANITARIAN WORK

  Remuneration and benefits

  For employees:

  • The gross monthly remuneration is indicated in each job advertisement. The level of remuneration is calculated in accordance with the MdM pay scale which takes into account our employees’ professional profiles and career paths.
  • If you work outside France you will receive a monthly premium equivalent to 10% of your gross salary.
  • After working with MdM for six months you will receive an annual bonus equivalent to a month’s salary paid in two instalments (‘13th month payment’).

  For International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • You will receive a monthly allowance of €915, plus living expenses at the rate set for the country concerned.

  Support provided

  For employees and International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • MdM covers the cost of travel at the beginning and end of your contract between your home and the location where you will be working, as well as the cost of visas, vaccinations and mandatory treatments for some contracts.
  • For programmes with challenging security situations, MdM covers the cost of transport and accommodation for respite periods.

  Accommodation and living costs

  For employees:

  • You will either be provided with accommodation in a shared house or will receive a housing allowance.
  • For employees going as a couple or family, a living costs allowance will be provided for the accompanying partner if they are not in employment. An allowance is also paid for each child over the age of three years. The allowance is paid according to the rate set for the country concerned.
  • MdM covers a proportion of the costs of schooling for children between the ages of 3 and 18 who are living in the country concerned.

  For International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • You will be provided with accommodation in a shared house.

  Paid holiday and recovery days

  For employees:

  • Through your employment contract you will receive 25 working days of paid leave per year and 22.5 rest days per year.

  For International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • For contracts of six months or more, you will receive two days’ leave per month.

  Medical cover and social protection

  For employees:

  • MdM has medical cover and social protection for expatriates through affiliations with a number of different organisations. Thus, in return for contributions shared between you and MdM and subject to certain conditions, you will receive benefits for sickness, maternity, accidents at work, disability, death, basic and supplementary pensions and unemployment.
  • You will also be entitled to medical repatriation insurance.
  • Anyone who has not contributed to the general French social security system for at least five years can receive a maximum of €260 per month for the reimbursement of a monthly contribution to a pension scheme of their choice, upon presentation of proof.

  For International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • MdM pays 100% of the cost of medical coverage and social protection for International Solidarity Volunteers through affiliations with a number of different organisations. Subject to certain conditions, you will receive benefits for sickness, maternity, accidents at work, death and the basic pension.
  • You will also be entitled to medical repatriation insurance.

• 

  Career path and training

  For employees and International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • To make sure you’re as well-prepared as possible for your post, you will attend a briefing before you leave. It will provide you with an introduction to the organisation, the context of the project you’ll be working on and key contacts.
  • You will also take part in our integration training and, depending on your role, you will have the opportunity to attend more specific group or individual training sessions.
  • A member of the HR team will be assigned to you for the duration of your contract. You can consult them about any issues and they will provide advice and support in developing your career at MdM.
  • At the end of your contract you will have a debriefing to review your experience and share your feedback with the local and HQ teams.
  • Psychological support will also be available if you want it.

  MdM community life

  For employees and International Solidarity Volunteers:

  • After working with us for a minimum of nine months, you will have the option of becoming a member of MdM, enabling you to become more involved in the MdM community and entitling you to vote at the General Assembly.
