PHARMACIST

We welcome pharmacists at different stages of their career. As a student you could do an internship with one of our programmes in France, then once you’re qualified you could join us as a paid employee or a volunteer.

YOUR TASKS

  • If you work as a pharmacist on one of our international programmes, the role involves ensuring the establishment and proper functioning of medicine stocks and medical supplies and training local staff to do these tasks.
  • If you work in France, you will organise and supervise the management of the programme’s pharmacy. Most of the pharmacists working on our programmes in France are volunteers. If you work at MdM’s headquarters you will quality assure our medical procurement and the organisation of the pharmacies for our programmes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You will be representing Médecins du Monde so you should be seen to uphold our values and put them into practice.
  • If you work outside France, we ask that you have a good command of English or Spanish.
  • You will work with people who are in very precarious situations, in multicultural environments and in security contexts that may sometimes be difficult or stressful, so you will need to have the capacity to adapt.
  • You will be working with a medical team and will need excellent training, leadership and management skills, as well as being a great team player.
  • You will have to manage medical stocks in a humanitarian context. For this, a rigorous approach and the ability to work independently will be a valuable asset.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise are also essential qualities, as is a thorough knowledge of office software.

GOOD TO KNOW

We seek to give all candidates a chance but, depending on the programme, prior experience in the medical and social sphere or humanitarian sector may be a requirement.

YOUR FUTURE PROSPECTS AT MDM

Because we are committed to long-term collaboration with our partners and believe that staff who have had practical experience on the ground are an asset for any organisation, we offer pharmacists who work with us the opportunity to progress to more senior roles, such as medical coordinator or thematic advisor to the Health and Advocacy Department.
