11th edition of the Scientific Day of Humanitarian and Solidarity Health
Médecins du Monde, in partnership with the Médecins du Monde Foundation, is organising the 11th edition of the Scientific Day of Humanitarian and Solidarity Health on Thursday, 9 April at the Académie du Climat, 2 Place Baudoyer, 75004 Paris.
This annual event is an important time for discussions about issues such as health, precarity and humanitarian action in France and abroad. This day highlights the results of research and innovations in the medico-social field.
This year, the central theme is: ‘Providing care without conceding; solidarity is the strength, resistance is the horizon’
What is Médecins du Monde’s Scientific Day ?
The Scientific Day of Humanitarian and Solidarity Health is centred around research presentations from field projects of Médecins du Monde and other partners. This is an opportunity to discuss and reflect with guests from the humanitarian sector — and beyond — about our current and future practices.
In a context where humanitarian aid is threatened and we are witnessing a strong surge in extremism, the central theme of this year’s edition will invite us to question the way we operate, as well as their impact within that context.
We will address topics such as the consequences of climate change and the health impacts of toxic environments, women’s health as a major challenge in increasingly fragile humanitarian contexts, and the need to guarantee inclusive and sustainable healthcare systems accessible to all.
The day will end with a panel discussion that will promote collective thinking about our commitments, practices and possible avenues for action in response to ideological withdrawal.
Programme
Four roundtables and conferences will set the tempo for the day. Researchers and field players will introduce their research and debate on practices and humanitarian and scientific knowledge.
