Foreword by the Director of Le Centre ODAS

The year 2024 marks a pivotal milestone for Le Centre ODAS and the ODAS Movement as a whole. Above all, I wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to this committed and well-organized movement, which has enabled us to strengthen our role as a space for technical and strategic support in the fight for the right to safe abortion in Francophone Africa.

Striking the right functional balance for Le Centre ODAS has been a major challenge this year. With clarity and determinaation, we worked to refine our positioning and strengthen our foundation within the Movement. Member ownership is steadily growing, and we have laid down solid groundwork, although the work is far from over. The objective is clear: to make Le Centre ODAS a driving force that strengthens collective momentum, while ensuring transparent governance and clear accountability to those who sustain this struggle day after day.

It is with this vision in mind that we reached a major milestone in 2024 by strengthening our organizational structure. The formalization of memberships and the development of strategic policies, particularly regarding partnerships and membership, now enable us to operate through transparent and inclusive mechanisms. This structuring enhances our ability to effectively support the Movement and to anchor our actions in a sustainable and forward-looking dynamic.

The year 2024 also marked a major milestone with the adoption of our first strategic plan-an essential step that defines our vision and provides a clear roadmapfor the years ahead. This foundational document reflects a collective effort and deep reflection on therole of Le Centre ODAS within the broader ecosystem of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), with a specific focus on safe abortion in Francophone Africa.

None of this would have been possible without the commitment and support of our partners: institutional and government bodies, INGOs, local NGOs, feminist organizations, youth networks, and more. Each of them, in their own capacity, contributes to strengthening our collective efforts and making Le Centre ODAS a unifying space for all those advancing the right to and access to safe abortion.
We are encouraged to see that, through these partnerships, the foundations of a united and inclusive movement are steadily taking shape.

This annual report highlights the major advances of the past year. It showcases our efforts to mobilize partners around regional strategic frameworks, the promising developments observed across the Francophone ecosystem, and the outcomes of our digital initiatives and collective mobilizations during key strategic events and advocacy in decision-making spaces.

The progress made in 2024 is a source of inspiration, and we look to the future with both ambition and clarity. Le Centre ODAS remains firmly committed to being a driver of transformation within the ODAS Movement, working alongside all those advancing the right to safe abortion in Francophone Africa.
