MdM in Lebanon

MdM has been working in Lebanon for nearly 30 years and specifically on the response to the Syrian crisis since 2012. The goal of MdM in Lebanon is to offer care to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese affected by this crisis. Currently, medical assistance is provided through one partner in one Primary Health Care Center in north Bekaa. MdM’s MHPSS intervention in Lebanon aims to strengthen the national mental health system and increase access to quality mental healthcare. MdM is working in the integration of mental health in the primary healthcare system and contributing to the development of a community-based mental healthcare services, opening and running community mental health centers (CMHC), in coordination with partners for the substance use, gender and inclusion components. 

Since September 23, 2024, and the intensification of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, Lebanon has entered a humanitarian crisis, with almost a million internally displaced persons (IDPs). MdM is stepping up its emergency response in areas where it is already active and is planning assessments in other parts of the country.

MdM’s activities are currently based in Beirut, Bekaa Valley and Tripoli.

About the role

You will lead the development of the country logistics strategy and ensure its timely implementation.

What you’ll do

  • Enhance the capacities of the national staff
  • Implement and improve the communication system and feedback
  • Participate to the definition and the implementation of the safety and security standards
  • Roll out logistics procedures, tools and templates in line with MdM and donors’ policies
  • Provide logistics guidance, training, advise and support to all programme and field sites
  • Define and manage the most efficient supply chain solutions, especially regarding drugs and medical equipment procurement
  • Recruit and manage the logistics team under your line management
  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders

Who you’ll work with

You work under the supervision of the general coordinator of the mission and in collaboration with the logistics referent at HQ. You directly manage a logistics officer and a logistics assistant.

Contract & status:

  • Gross monthly salary: 3 392 €
  • Fixed-term contract starting as soon as possible for 3 months
  • Single posting

Work environment:

  • Position based in Beirut, with regular field visits

Your profile

You are the right match if you:

  • Have 5 years’ professional experience (including at least one year in a logistical coordination position in a humanitarian setting or two years’ logistician experience)
  • Have experience in fleet management, safety/security, supply chain and stock
  • Have experience working in a volatile security environment
  • Have excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 environment
  • Have knowledge of radio systems, satellite connections and GPS trackers
  • Speak English fluently (oral and written) – knowledge of French or Arabic is an asset

This role may not suit you if you:

  • Are not aligned with MdM’s values
  • Are not used to work in a volatile security environment
