OUR HUMANITARIAN PROGRAMMES IN EUROPE

Poverty in Europe is still one of the most important barriers to health. Inadequate housing, drug use, discrimination-based violence, HIV and other infectious diseases are all risk factors that must be tackled for the health of populations.

We must rise to the health challenge that is created by the arrivals of people in exile in Europe.

After some strenuous migration journeys, these populations are facing disgraceful reception conditions with detrimental consequences for their health and poor access to care.

These emergencies and humanitarian crises in Europe are highlighting the lack of state and European Union services. Yet, overcoming that lack is vital as it constitutes a violation of the most fundamental human rights.

OUR ACTION IN EUROPE

To meet these medical needs, our organisation is providing humanitarian aid in Europe in order to help establish a more effective, fair and universal access to health.

Médecins du Monde is not only carrying out emergency programmes but longer-term humanitarian projects in Europe as well, with the aim of strengthening the populations’ ability to access healthcare durably.

OUR HUMANITARIAN AID PROGRAMME IN EUROPE

Faced with the diversity of situations and needs, our NGO runs various programs.

Médecins du Monde is present in Europe, mainly in France and Bulgaria, working with migrants and refugees to help improve their health conditions.

We also work with drug users in Georgia and sex workers in Russia with our local partners to improve access to healthcare for these people and help them protect themselves from the risks of infectious diseases, HIV, STIs and violence.
