Syria: Afrin and al-Shifaa hospital bombed

Recent missile strikes targeted Afrin and Al Shifa Hospital on June 12, 2021. Attacks on healthcare must stop now.

As Médecins du Monde France, we condemn the two missile attacks on Afrin, one of them directly targeting Al-Shifa Hospital, on June 13, 2021, resulting in the death of at least 14 people, including 4 humanitarian workers, and more than 27 injured.

Violation of resolution 2286: international humanitarian law once again flouted

As last month marked the 5th anniversary of the United Nations Security Counsil Resolution 2286 on the protection of healthcare in armed conflict, we are once again reminded that much more needs to be done to protect healthcare personnel and facilities.

Protecting medical personnel and access to health care

We call on the international community to put an end to these clear violations of international humanitarian law. Countries should step up and break off with vicious circles of impunity that continue to protect perpetrators instead of medical personnel.

In Syria, health services threatened despite humanitarian needs

Today more than ever,  the Syrian people need to safely access health care services.
