Last week, MDM-France issued a press release announcing that it would suspend its activities in the Palestinian territories, following the kidnapping of MDM staff in the Gaza Strip and the deterioration of the security situation.
Since then, MDM-France has closely monitored the security situation in the field and following consultations with the field office in Nablus, MDM-France has decided to progressively resume its activities in the Palestinian Territories as of the 22nd of March 2006. Considering the worsening of the humanitarian situation, MDM-France wishes to stay in the Palestinian Territories and to renew its commitment to the improvement of the health conditions of the Palestinian population. MDM-France remains extremely preoccupied by the deterioration of security conditions which its humanitarian medical teams have to face daily.
MDM-France will continue to monitor the security developments closely in order to insure the safety of its teams and guarantee the continuity of its activities in the best possible conditions.
