Following the declaration of independence, which has not been unanimously recognised by the international community, the political situation in Kosovo is particularly unstable. Tensions between ethnic groups within the country and also with neighbouring Serbia do not help. Faced with major socio-economic problems, such as poverty, unemployment and insecurity, many people, and particularly young people and adolescents, suffer from psychological problems.
‘Youth Listening Point’, supporting the local association Vita Kosova - Pristina, Prizren and Gracanica
Activities :
For three years (2003-2006) MdM, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and the association Vita Kosova, developed a programme aimed at reducing the risks of psychological conditions, addictions and infections among young people and adolescents. In concrete terms, this project resulted in the creation of a ‘Listening Point’ for young people in Pristina. From 2007, we have been aiming to accompany and support Vita Kosova in strengthening the current services and in developing new activities in Prizren and the Serb enclave, Gracanica.
Outlook :
• Continue to support the organisational development of Vita Kosova.
• Provide mentoring support on project management and fundraising.
