ACTIVITIES MdM’s programme takes place in two refugee camps, with provision of psychiatric and psychological consultations in UNRWA clinics. The focus is on expanding the scope of mental health training, started in 2009, for the UNRWA and Palestinian Red Crescent health workers, as well as training for local organisations’ support workers. The objective is to enable early detection of patients, and to refer patients and help them to reintegrate into society once their condition has improved.
RESULTS 5,200 psychological and psychiatric consultations and home visits were carried out.
OUTLOOK After two and a half years working on mental health, we have begun to document the programme that has been running in the north, enabling a complete analysis of the activities to be carried out. This will help us to define an intervention strategy for a new project, which could be developed in the south of the country, helping the Palestinian and Lebanese populations.
