Dohuk, Erbil, Kirkuk, Sulaymanieh, Ninewa, Tamim, Diyala, Bagdad, and Kerbala governorates- Long term
ACTIVITIESMdM’s activities aim to strengthen the abilities of healthcare personnel. Training in pre-hospital medicine has been offered to doctors, in conjunction with the medical training centre Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), which will enable them to respond to emergencies in Kirkuk, Ninewa, Diyala and in the KRG region (Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Dohuk). Among other things, the training helps the integration of mental health into primary healthcare, with a view to improving diagnosis and providing better care for psychological problems and psychiatric illnesses.
RESULTS19 paramedics benefited from Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training, 50 midwives and traditional birth attendants were trained and equipped, 160 medical personnel participated in awareness-raising activities.
OUTLOOKMdM plans to support primary healthcare centres in the rural areas of Ninewa, Erbil, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah and Diyala governorates. The programme has several components: training midwives, mental healthcare, training in emergency response, and health education for the population in general.

Rizgar 37 years old, paramedic in Erbil “I am glad that I did the MdM training. I now feel that I am able to pass on the information and skills that I learned to my colleagues. Certain people have told me that, despite 25 years experience in healthcare, they have discovered, with MdM, techniques that they did not know before.”
