Medical coordinator (M/F)
Medical coordinator (M/F)
For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organisation committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 44 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction associated with drug use, emergencies and crisis.
MDM has been working in Balkans for many years. In the Republic of Serbia, MdM worked from 2001 to 2009, in a Risk Reduction program targeting people involved in drug abuse. Since beginning 2016, MdM has returned to the Republic of Serbia to provide Health care and Mental Health-Psychosocial support (MHPSS) to migrants/refugees transiting through this country.
MDM is operating in 4 transit centers for migrants/refugees (Sid, Adaševci, Kikinda and Sombor transit centers) and in Belgrade city center.
Direct support to migrants/refugees includes the provision of Primary Health Care (PHC) through medical teams (composed of medical doctors and nurses), the facilitation of referral to secondary/specialized cares and the provision of MHPSS (through psychologists and translators/cultural mediators). MDM is also working toward advocacy for the rights of migrants/refugees in Serbia and facilitates the access to protection services.
