Sociocultural determinants of access to health care

Far from being universal, access to health care by the beneficiaries of our programmes is closely dependent upon the rules, values, representations and knowledge applicable to each community.

Acting upon the fact that the representation of illness is different according to culture and society, Doctors of the World grasps the question of the sociocultural determinants of access to health care (SCD) in its ethical concern for improvements to the quality of its programmes.





To question concepts and issues, to take account of experience from the field: since its beginning, the SCD working group, has linked the scientific to the operational approach via the production and compilation of a  variety of publications.

This space dedicated to reflection makes available investigations and reports about sociocultural determinants, organised here by subject: anthropology and and humanitarian sector, HIV/AIDS, mother and child health, traditional medicine, migrants, inter cultural issues…
